Public liability
Public liability cover insures you against claims made by third parties during your wedding, for which you may be liable, such as:
injury during your wedding (e.g. someone slips on the venue floor)
damage to property (e.g. a guest damages a painting at the venue)
some sort of negligence by you or one of your guests (e.g. a guest spills hot coffee over another guest)
Public liability insurance does not cover you for breach of your contractual liabilities.
How much public liability cover should you take out?
Public liability claims can be for very large amounts of money, particularly for personal injuries. Many venues specify a level of cover you must have and generally this is either £2 million or £5 million. We allow you to choose either level to suit your own wedding and venue requirements.
Public liability in the USA and Canada
Due to the higher level and frequency of public liability claims in the USA and Canada, we have to charge extra for this cover if you are getting married in either of these countries. £2 million of public liability cover for the USA or Canada costs an extra £12.50 and £5 million of cover an extra £20.
