FAQs

Our FAQs should answer most questions about our Wedding Insurance.

What does the 'wedding party' mean?

The wedding party means the bride, groom, both civil partners, their parents or guardians, bride's attendants, best man and ushers.

What if we have to cancel our wedding?

Our Wedding Insurance provides up to £50,000 of cover in case your wedding is cancelled or cut short for a reason beyond your control. If this happens, you may have to pay for suppliers or goods that you’ve booked but cannot use. Under this cover, you would be able to claim for these costs.

What if we have to cancel, cust short or re-arrange our wedding due to illness?

The policy covers any member of the wedding party who falls ill and this means that you have to cancel, cut short, or re-arrange the wedding.

If they fall ill because of a pre-existing medical condition that you or they know about when you take out your Wedding Insurance, you will not be covered. Please see the 'What is not covered' section of the policy document for further detail.

What happens if one of the suppliers we’re using goes bankrupt?

You can include a cover called failure of suppliers in your policy. This covers you if any of the suppliers you’re using for your wedding go into liquidation or become bankrupt. It covers you for the cost of any deposits you lose. It also covers the additional costs you have to pay to re-arrange any products or service you lose.

Are we covered if our photos get damaged?

Yes – you can include photograph and video cover, which covers you for the cost of re-taking your photos or video for either of the following reasons:

  • because the professional photographer or video person doesn’t turn up

  • because the original photos or video are lost or damaged.

Does your policy cover overseas weddings?

Yes – we can cover your wedding no matter where in the world it takes place.

If you plan to get married in the USA or Canada, and you want to include public liability cover, you must add it separately. There is an additional premium for public liability cover in these two countries that reflects the relatively higher level of public liability claims there.

There are some policy variances for overseas weddings. Please read the wedding insurance policy document carefully and we are here to help if you have any questions. For example, cover for re-arrangement does not extend to travel and/or accommodation arrangements made for weddings or receptions taking place outside England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

Am I insured against one of us changing our mind about getting married?

Unfortunately we cannot insure you against a change of mind - insurance can only provide cover against events that are outside of your control such as failure of suppliers.
