What we look for

Identifying potential for profit

Fundamental research & analysis lies at the heart of our ethical investment philosophy. Our investment approach is one of active management and our fund management team aim to seek out companies with sound financials, good management, growth prospects and the potential to generate strong cash-flow.

We employ longer-term investment horizons and are prepared to go against the crowd, taking a contrarian approach to asset selection. Sometimes this means targeting out of favour stocks, which can produce periods of underperformance. But we believe that our flexible investment process, with the continual exchange of insights and speed of implementation keeps us a step ahead.

We believe there is a link between well-managed companies with good governance practices and a clear understanding of their ethical, social and environmental impacts and financial returns.

We try to take a balanced and practical approach to responsible investing, recognising that each company should be viewed on its own merits and in the context of its sector and market place.

Our portfolio construction and risk controls:

  • Well diversified portfolios – typically 100+ stocks

  • Low portfolio turnover

  • Spreading risk – no stocks account for more than 5% of Fund

  • Stock level attribution analysis

  • Spread of counterparties

  • No Stock lending
